Judgment

Can you judge an individual without knowing?

Matthew 7:1-5 states,

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."

Self continuously we will make pre-perceived notions to people around us. This verse makes an emphasis on why we are so quick to make judgments against others, but we are unable to remove the plank in our own eyes. Often times, when this happens we need to come from a place of humility, rather than rushing into assumptions. For instance, when Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mount, he was taking the time to challenge us to focus on our personal attitudes, thoughts, and motives. As we begin to realize the faults that take place in our life, we will begin to understand that their is only one judge.

Prayer:

God, I pray that I will be able to see people in their true form. I want to thank you for another day and please protect us as week go through this week. Amen.
